If you want to relax in a beach resort with beautiful seas, the islands of Redang and Tioman on the east coast are the best places to go. The east coast side of the Malay Peninsula is clearer than the west side, so those looking for clean seas will be satisfied.
Best time to visit Redang Island
When to go to Redang Island, Malaysia has a rainy season and a dry season due to the monsoon. The rainy season on Redang Island is from November to March and the dry season is from April to October. It is best to visit during the dry season as the sea is rough and some hotels are closed during the rainy season.
On the other hand, the west coast of the Malay Peninsula, such as Penang and Langkawi, has a rainy season from May to September and a dry season from November to April, which is the best time to visit. You may want to change your destination depending on when you can travel.

The island of Redang in Malaysia is located in the state of Terengganu on the east coast of the Malay Peninsula. To get to Redang Island, you need to fly from Kuala Lumpur to Kuala Terengganu and then cross to Redang Island by boat.

The Taaras Beach & Spa Resort
While on Redang Island, we stayed at The Taaras Beach & Spa Resort. The hotel has a large private beat and you can enjoy the beach resort in a relaxed manner as there is no one but the hotel guests on the beach.
The hotel is a luxurious space with an open-plan structure and spacious arrangement of sofas. The hotel is well cleaned and the tropical breeze is very pleasant.
There seems to be a choice of rooms in the hotel building, bungalow type and villa ripe rooms. I stayed in a hotel building, but the bungalow and villa type rooms are located close to the beach and have a nice ambience, so I should have stayed there.
There are plenty of summer beds on the beach, so you can relax wherever you want.
The shallow water is crystal clear and safe for children to play in. The sand is white and shines in the blue sky.
The sea at the hotel beach was really beautiful. It was clear and pleasant to swim in.
There were some pretty big fish swimming around. I think it would be fun to have a snorkel.
Diving
We were able to dive at the hotel, so we dived. We went to a dive site with a wreck nearby.
Before you know it, you’ll find yourself diving to a depth of 20 meters, and you won’t know exactly where you are when you’re diving. The wreck-like structure is interesting because it allows you to keep track of your position. You can also feel like you’re flying because you can move freely.
The clarity was not very clear on this dive and visibility was not good. It rained the day before and it was said to be muddy. It was a pity because I was expecting to see clear sea.
The classic clownfish was here again.
Summary
The sea on the island of Redan is on the east coast and was as clear as you can get. It’s a bit difficult to get there by boat from Kuala Terengganu, but I think it’s a good place to visit at least once. I sincerely hope that the air service will be restored.
